POA SUPPORT
The Attorney remains the Attorney. Personal Trustee Services provides practical presence, coordination, follow-through, documentation, and reporting when the person you are responsible for needs support and you cannot personally manage every practical detail.
Legal authority does not make you available every time something needs attention.
Being appointed under a Power of Attorney gives you authority, but it does not make you available for every practical issue. Attorney involvement may mean Temporary Support during a disruption, Gradual Support while the person can still guide decisions, or Decision-Making Responsibility when they can no longer clearly speak for themselves.
POA Support helps when you need reliable local follow-through while you remain responsible for the role.
You stay informed and responsible, without being left to personally manage every practical issue alone.
Who POA Support is for
POA Support may be appropriate for family members, spouses, friends, or personally appointed Attorneys; Attorneys supporting someone in Manitoba from another city, province, or country; and professional or institutional Attorneys who need practical local support around the person.
This is not an automatic signup service. Each request is reviewed individually before a new engagement is accepted.
What support can look like
Support depends on the person, their circumstances, their living environment, and the agreed role. It may include appointment coordination, communication with service providers, practical follow-up, emergency-contact involvement within an agreed arrangement, transportation coordination, personal shopping, pharmacy or supply coordination, hospital or return-home support, transition support, well-being check-ins when identified, and arranging services when the Attorney cannot be there.

POA Support is supported by PlanGuardian™, the in-house planning and documentation system used by Personal Trustee Services to organize relevant support information, document involvement, and keep the Attorney informed.
PlanGuardian™ supports the way the service is delivered. It does not replace the human support relationship.
Assessment and availability
Because POA Support is personal and individualized, each request is reviewed before a new engagement is accepted. Acceptance depends on the person’s needs, the Attorney’s goals, the scope of support required, whether the role is appropriate, and current availability.
Some matters may be accepted, some may be waitlisted, and some may not be the right fit.
Ongoing reporting
Every ongoing POA Support engagement includes a monthly report and invoice. The report gives the Attorney visibility into involvement, observations, communication, recommendations where appropriate, and reimbursable expenses.
This supports the Attorney’s own documentation and accountability in the POA role.
Clear boundaries
Personal Trustee Services does not replace the Attorney and does not provide legal advice. POA Support does not include financial management or financial decision-making.
When spending is required, the Attorney remains responsible for approval and decision-making. Personal Trustee Services may carry out the practical task once approved and provide receipts or documentation for reimbursement.
